You will learn five super affiliate secrets in my post today. Use them so that you can join the super affiliate ranks and become a top earner as well.
Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online. And here’s why.
You basically refer people to a sales page, they buy a product, and you collect a commission.
Once you figure out how to do it right, you refer more people, they buy more products, and you earn more commissions.
The problem is about 90% of affiliate marketers struggle to make significant money.
Perhaps the top 3% of affiliate marketers know some secrets that you don't. Based on my 20+ years of marketing online, I will tell you what most beginners neglect.
There is one thing I noticed about newbies. They have a tendency to rush into their new projects. Maybe it is just me. But I always recommend planning first to know where you are going and how you will get there.
The following five super affiliate secrets should be included in your planning efforts.
Focus on Evergreen Products in Evergreen Niches
This is the first of the 5 super affiliate secrets. An evergreen niche is one that appeals to people forever. There is an inherent interest or desire in the topic or subject matter. Evergreen niches are neither trendy or temporary.
Evergreen niches include:
An evergreen product is one that has everlasting demand in the marketplace because there is a need for the product on a continuing basis.
This website is in one of the best evergreen niches, Wealth.
Affiliate marketing interests people because they continually look for better ways to improve their financial conditions. And with a low cost of entry, affiliate marketing will continue to interest people in making money online.
An example of a niche that is not evergreen is something that is here today but may be gone tomorrow. (Think trendy items and fads.)
On the other hand, fashion (clothing) is evergreen. However, individual products are not as they tend to be based on fads and trends.
When you choose a niche where people are purchasing products continually, you can create a long term viable business.
Focus on Recurring Products
Have you ever promoted products that have a recurring element? These let you get paid over and over from just one purchase.
I have promoted membership products and web services and earned more than $500 from a single customer over a multi-year period. It's not as hard as you may think. Build up enough of those customers and you have a nice recurring revenue source.
I have also followed a particular internet marketer for over 10 years. And no doubt have spent more than $500!
Remember, people are happy to pay a fair price for a service they need, such as Aweber autoresponders, so why not help them make an educated decision and benefit long-term.
Of course, not all products you promote will be recurring. But try to mix in at least a few from time to time. Even if the recurring element is sold in the funnel. There's nothing better than monthly commissions from a product that provides value. That's one of the reasons why I promote the Wealthy Affiliate training program. This training program provides a safe, spam-free training environment for people to learn and build their online businesses.
Create Your Own Promotional Material
Think about it.
Vendors create promotional material for their affiliates to use. If all the affiliates use the same material, how will a potential buyer recognize your promotion? You are like another tree in a forest.
Most affiliate marketers make the mistake of using the material that the vendor creates for their affiliates. The problem with everyone using the same material is affiliates using the same keywords, promos, and banners, which dilutes results significantly.
Super affiliates go the other direction and develop their own promotional material. They write their own promos, come up with their own keyword lists and even create their own review blog posts or videos.
Making your promotional material makes you stand out from the crowd. You will get better search engine ranking for your product reviews, more exposure to your affiliate links and more commissions.
I have one word of caution. You may need to have the vendor's permission to use your personally-developed material. They want to approve your creatives prior to use. Vendors want to control how affiliates represent their products in the market.
Of course, not everyone has time to take this extra step. If you want to use this method but lack the time or expertise to create your own material, check this out Stencil review. Stencil is an easy image creation tool for social media marketers, bloggers and small businesses.
It comes a huge collection of images, icons, and templates. My favorite Stencil feature is the ability to post images to my social media networks directly. No more downloading images and then uploading to social media.
Select Products with Different Price Points
Promote products with different prices. Obviously, you may make larger commissions offering high-priced items. Also, it takes more sales of lesser priced products to equal that made on one sale of an expensive item.
Price is usually a major factor in the buying process.
Super affiliates lessen the impact of product high prices by selecting vendors who have well-designed sales funnels. Sales funnels have multiple offers starting with a low-cost basic product up front. Once a purchase is made, another product is offered as an upgrade. This offer is typically a one-time-only opportunity to buy. The buyer is offered other options to accept or reject.
People dislike upsells according to Captain Obvious.
And for good reason.
I think many people will agree that many low-cost products are promoted online only as a lead-in to a higher priced product. Furthermore, the sales pitches for the upgrade options are obnoxiously pushy, And the upgrade prices do not reflect the "value" of the upgrade offer. The offers come off as a "money grab" by the vendor and its affiliates.
I prefer to promote products that work, have value, and meet basic needs. The initial low-cost product should be fully functional. The upsells should over-deliver value.
Just the other day, I requested and received a refund for a digital product that did not do what the sales material stated. The functionality I wanted was only offered in an upgrade. So it was an instance of the product being overstated on the sales page.
Build Your Email List
You may have heard it over and over that you need a list.
Most beginning affiliate marketers skip past this step. They are intent on making commissions quicker. But that's a mistake.
Here is why it is a big mistake.
When you focus on building an email opt-in list, you are building a relationship with people. As they learn of the value you provide, they learn to trust what you have to say. This helps them become recurring customers and likely to buy products based on your recommendations.
Each time you find a good product to promote, you can send all your past customers a link to the offer. And if you've helped them through the years with solid recommendations, they will be receptive.
I realize growing an opt-in list can be slow and tedious. But it is worth the effort.
